The Client
PicturePerfectGallery is an offshoot of an established brand of mortar and brick shop fronts offering the latest art for the Internet. A new ecommerce site was desired with the ability for modifications and flexible enough to be used by in a number of ways.
The Requirements
- Total design of website to be eye catching and focus the surfer on buying a product on the site
- Easy to locate an artist from a list of possibly 100s.
- Must be easy to add new products to
- Deploy a cost effective web based customer and order management system that would enable staff to quickly process orders and handle customer enquiries
- Provide online self service account creation and management for customers
- Product promotion facility
- Be flexible to deal with various depths of product levels, eg subsections of a section
- Full Automated Stock control system
- Sync the site with the products of other websites in their family of websites.
Challenges to the ecommerce website development team
- Creation of new categories and sub categories (up to 3 levels)
- Search facility to browse by artist or painting name. Various ways to ease user to finding their desired artist.
- Importing 4500 products, including all related images from their sister sites and have it display correctly on the site.
- Management of customer orders in a secure web based environment
- Website must not look like a typical ecommerce website
- Search Engine Friendly – Configure the product page to dynamically generate HTML tags such as title, Meta name and description.
- Be able to provide discount campaigns across the entire range of products and or individual products with just 2 clicks.
- Assisting the client in the best possible way to maximise sales on the site.
